Ruyel is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Sustainability Management program of the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Fisheries from Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh, and a master’s in Coastal and Marine Fisheries from the same university before joining the Memorial University of Newfoundland for another master’s. His research aims to examine the governance of small-scale fisheries in the coastal regions. He connects the concept of vulnerability to viability transition to the notion of governability for small-scale fisheries.
